The following considerations are critical when selecting a comfortable, ergonomic and safe aftermarket seat for your 70 Series LandCruiser:

- Is the seat a generic size and shape? 
If the seat you're considering is a shape released by a vehicle manufacturer (e.g. Toyota, Holden, Ford), it is most likely a generic size and shape designed to suit the majority of the population. RECARO offer 7 suitable seats for the 70 Series, and each seat is adjustable and customisable, so the compatibility is endless
- Do you enter and exit the vehicle frequently, and is the vehicle significantly lifted?
If yes, you may consider a seat with lower side bolsters to make entry and exit easier. Do you prefer better support along the outside of your thigh? Consider a taller side bolster.
- Is the seat height adjustable?
One of the most common enquiries we get is in relation to the height of the seat base. The factory seat is positioned too high in the vehicle for taller people. Rest assured, the height of the RECARO seats can be adjusted to a lower position.
- Does the seat feature a certified matting system to protect your spine from jolts caused by uneven road surfaces?
​The Pirelli matting system featured in RECARO seats, beneath the cushion foam eliminates jarring shocks caused by uneven surfaces like corrugation without making you bounce in your seat like a suspension system would. Suspension systems may work ok for long highway roads, but are not ideal for off road driving, when you want to remain as steady and secure as possible. Imagine a trampoline installed under the seating cushions; the Pirelli system performs exceptionally well.
- Does the seat have a fully adjustable headrest, or is the headrest limited to height adjustment only?
Select a seat with an adjustable headrest. Adjustability up and down as well at forward and back tilt is required for support and to protect your head and neck against whiplash in the event of a collision.
- Does the seat have an open back?
Select a seat without a closed seat structure (not an open backrest) for lateral support and protection
- And possibly most importantly, does the seat have adjustable lumbar support?
Ideally, the lumbar support must be adjustable in height and size. Adjustability is required to suit all torso lengths and spinal curves


Why is it important to select a comfortable, ergonomic and safe aftermarket seat?
When the vehicle manufacturers design a factory seat, it is created to suit the majority of the population. This means the seat must be usable for small frame, large frame, short and tall persons. Lacking adjustability, factory seats also fail to offer the required lateral and lumbar support, for example, the natural spinal curve on a tall person is much higher than a shorter person, so the generic seats cannot have lumbar support at an ideal height; factory seats generally do not feature any lumbar support for this reason.
