Points of Interest
- Fitting is quick and easy as the assembly slides and 'clicks' into place in the original dashboard.
- This product is not 3D printed and is manufactured to a much higher quality than similar alternatives. Our product is produced in high volume, using cast black resin to allow for drilling or cutting without the challenges of 3D printed layers. We further optimise the finish by surface painting the front face black to achieve an impressive dashboard match in colour and sheen.
- This Ashtray Replacement is supplied without switches, allowing you to source switches with the logos and labels that match your accessories.
- We recommend purchasing these compatible switches from AOBSW800 Series Push Switches from AOB 4X4
What size switches will fit?
This product has been designed specifically for the plastic dash 70 Series LandCruiser and will accommodate the same size switch you find horizontally in the dashboard of this model, from July 2009 to late 2023.
Over the years, Toyota has offered various switch sizes including the introduction of new sizes adjacent to the steering wheel and more recently, another new size in the 2024 Facelift Model which lacks an ashtray altogether. Furthermore, the Toyota switches found in other models such as the Hilux, 200 Series and 300 Series are different again, so saying it will fit "Toyota switches" or "Toyota Push Switches" is not specific enough. We advise you to look carefully at the photos in this listing which were intentionally taken to include a view of the horizontal switches in the dash, as well as a larger switch panel in the floor console below for comparison.
Disclaimer:
In developing this switch panel, we sourced switches from a variety of suppliers and accurately measured their sizes to determine the optimal hole size. Some examples include GME's pass-through connectors, Lightforce switches, genuine Toyota blanking covers and aftermarket switches from reputable suppliers such as AirOnBoard.
Unfortunately, some manufacturers are making switches and accessories stated to be the correct size to suit the Toyota dashboard, but their switches are slightly smaller or larger than the standard hole resulting in movement once installed. In our ashtray replacements, which have been designed with relatively tight tolerances, some of the correct size switches we tested had movement and were not a snug fit. For this reason, we chose to shrink our hole size to accommodate the smallest of the tested switches to prevent any movement once installed. This means, for switches that have been made slightly larger, you may need to trim (scrap/Dremel/sand) the holes to open them up slightly to fit those switches. This can be done neatly with a sharp blade.
I already have some generic switches, will they fit?
In short, no, probably not. Quite often when you purchase a generic accessory for your 4WD such as a winch, compressor or driving lights, they'll throw in a generic switch which is known by various names in the industry including "Carling Style" / "ARB Size" / "Marine Rocker" / "Blue Lens Printed" or "Laser Etched". These switches are not vehicle specific, as the accessory you're purchasing can fit multiple makes and models, and therefore the switch cannot be made to fit the holes in your particular dashboard.
We do offer switch panels to accommodate these style switches, but not in the form of an Ashtray replacement. We found these switches to be too wide to fit 4 across the width of the ashtray provision, and also too tall to fit neatly into the contours of our design. The product photos shown above, have a switch panel mounted in the floor console, to highlight the difference in size and indicate that the "Carling Style" / "ARB Size" / "Marine Rocker" / "Blue Lens Printed" / "Laser Etched" switches will not fit in this ashtray mount.
I want to fit a different size switch, can I modify this product to suit?
See other listing - We offer our ashtray replacements in a "Blank" version, perfect for customising to suit your needs. These are ideal for mounting electric brake controllers, Tow Pro dials, heated seat controls or a combination of switches and charging points. The product can be drilled, cut, sanded and painted and does not present the same challenges as 3D printed alternatives. We recommend covering the face with masking tape, marking the layout and size of the holes you require and then trimming the panel with a drill or Dremel to achieve a perfect finish.
